Your WiFi Router Could Be Spying on You Without You Knowing

Researchers from KIT (Germany) demonstrate that standard WiFi networks can become invisible surveillance systems — without cameras, trackers, or sensors.

MELBOURNE, FL — What once seemed like science fiction is now a real, documented vulnerability. A conventional WiFi router can identify people, track their movements, and build presence profiles without leaving any trace.

“This technology turns every router into a potential surveillance medium. If you regularly pass through a area with WiFi, you could be identified without carrying a device.”
— Julian Todt, KASTEL Institute

The technique exploits Beamforming Feedback Information (BFI)—data that WiFi devices automatically send to routers. When analyzed via Artificial Intelligence (AI), this data reconstructs who is present and how they move with high precision.

Surveillance is passive and continuous. Even if your phone is turned off, other devices on the same network provide sufficient activity for the “radar effect” to function, making detection extremely difficult.

UC-01 SECTOR: Public Safety — Fire & Law Enforcement

P25 System Upgrade — Seamless Migration

SCENARIO ESCENARIO
A metropolitan public safety agency needs to upgrade its radio fleet from aging P25 Phase 1 infrastructure to Phase 2 without disrupting active operations. Interlink-BK radios support both Phase 1 and Phase 2 simultaneously, allowing a phased transition where legacy units and new units remain fully interoperable throughout the migration.

OUTCOME
Zero-disruption P25 system migration with full interoperability maintained throughout the transition period.

UC-01 SECTOR: Mining — Rescue Operations

Mine Collapse Rescue Operation

SCENARIO ESCENARIO
A roof collapse at a deep underground mine traps 12 workers in a section beyond the reach of any conventional radio. Within 30 minutes of the incident, MineLink rescue teams begin deploying
relay nodes through the accessible tunnels. Within 90 minutes, voice contact is established with the
trapped workers. Command on the surface monitors the location and status of every rescue team member in real time.

OUTCOME
Voice contact and personnel tracking established in less than 90 minutes in conditions where all other communication systems had failed.

UC-01 SECTOR: Defense / Intelligence

Classified Data Transfer in a Denied Environment

SCENARIO ESCENARIO
An intelligence team operating in a fully denied communications environment needs to transfer a classified file package from one isolated device to another without generating any RF emissions,
network traffic, or detectable signal of any kind. Using Obsidian, the transfer is completed using
only the device cameras — completely passive, unidirectional, and invisible to any monitoring system.

OUTCOME
Undetectable file transfer with absolute zero electronic signature — no RF, no network, no trace.

UC-01 SECTOR: Military & Special Operations

SOF Team Communications in a Denied Environment

SCENARIO ESCENARIO
A special operations team operating in a communications-denied environment requires
secure messaging, file sharing, and coordination with a remote command element — without using
public infrastructure or exposing any metadata. Sentra Secure operates in fully disconnected mode, with end-to-end encrypted messaging, secure media transfer, and zero digital footprint on external networks.

OUTCOME
Full operational communications capability with zero exposure to external surveillance or interception.

UC-01 SECTOR: Emergency Response / Disaster

Multi-Agency Hurricane Response

SCENARIO: A Category 4 hurricane makes landfall, triggering a coordinated response across fire departments, law enforcement, National Guard units, and utility crews — all operating on different radio systems. With Nexus II deployed at the incident command post, every agency communicates in real time through their existing equipment, with no additional hardware or network redesign required.

OUTCOME Seamless inter-agency coordination from hour one, reducing response time and preventing communication blackouts that cost lives.
