Hackers rusos atacan cuentas de Signal y WhatsApp de funcionarios
Dutch intelligence agencies confirmed in March 2026 that a large-scale Russian campaign is compromising Signal and WhatsApp accounts belonging to government officials, military personnel, and journalists worldwide.
THE HAGUE / MELBOURNE — The Netherlands’ Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) and General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) warned that Russian state-backed actors are impersonating Signal technical support to obtain PIN codes and access high-profile accounts. The campaign is global and remains active.

Signal confirms that its systems have not been compromised; the attack vector is the user. Malicious QR codes, stolen verification SMS messages, and PINs shared through phishing enable attackers to link adversary-controlled devices to a victim’s account.
The threat is not technical — it is human. Government officials, military staff, and executives using commercial applications for sensitive communication are exposed.
